VISION

We seek to change the lives of children who, regardless of their circumstances, need a caring home to help them become productive and successful members of society.

MISSION

Fostering a child's home with quality standards in a family environment provides healthy, emotional & physical support to the children. Inculcating in them the ability to work and think independently but to be mindful of others and especially of those who are less fortunate than themselves.

To be industrious, responsible, humble and honest. Recognizing that this achievement could be accomplished only through commitment, perseverance, mission and hard work of the caregivers homes for vulnerable, poor, disadvantaged girl children. This institutions has grown leaps and bounds since initiation in 1975.

OUR HISTORY – KAMARAJ ILLAM
In late 1975 April, Government of India announced a Scheme called Relief to the Destitute Children. A program was started mainly for the orphanage children (girls/boys). Under this scheme the Vidya Bharathi Trust started “Valluvar Gurukulam Home for Girls” at Tambaram.

It was inaugurated by His Excellency Shri. Mohan Lal Sukhadiaji, the then Governor of Tamil Nadu in 1976 i.e., in memory of the first death anniversary of the National Political Leader Late Thiru. Kamaraj, Former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu on 3rd October 1976. A man who grew from humble origins, non-schooled who focused on the mid-day meal school system for poor children in Tamil Nadu.

In initial years the orphanage children from Chennai alone were admitted at the home. Later on Children from higher radius between 150 – 500 kms., i.e., Kanchipuram, Vellore, Bangalore, and Adirampattinam were admitted in this home.
