Why We Do

This home has been running for the past 43 years (from 1976 to till now) for the urban poor children and rural areas nearly who not only get education in the adjacent Government school but also are provided boarding/lodging facilities. Otherwise these children would have become child labourers or trafficked. Children are provided a better future with good education, welfare services so that these girls hope for a brighter dreams and secure future.

Earlier, Kamaraj Illam started with only 75 girls, but now over 4000 girl children from all age until now have completed their education (from standard 1st to 10th).

Children are trained here with all other curriculum activities and have participated in various competitions like dance, music, speech competition, debating and art. They have secured several medals, shields and even trophies for the group performance.

Children like Valarmathi studying in 10th class at “The Madras Seva Sadan Higher Secondary School”, Tambaram, adjacent to our Kamaraj Illam has been awarded with cash price of Rs. 5000 for the “Best Student Of The Year 2019-2020”.
